Triops who?

These things aren't your parent's Sea Monkeys that's for sure! I stumbled upon these little uglies in the check out lane at Hobby Lobby and I thought they might be a fun little science project for Genevieve and I to partake in at home. I figured they were going to be like the old school sea monkeys we used to nurture and watch grow when we were kids...Oh was I ever wrong!
Upon reading the instructions I found out that they could potentially grow to 3 inches in size and 70 DAYS! "I can't even keep gold fish alive for more than 2 weeks", so I wasn't worried about the commitment.

Take a look for yourself! Out of the many eggs we started with only three hatched. Surprisingly they are thriving and currently they are about an about 1.5 inches in length. Genevieve calls them tadpoles and really doesn't take much interest in them at all "SURPRISE"! As you might guess I am the only one who takes care of them, HO-HUM! I have to admit that they are interesting little creatures however the census in the Holland House from the other adults is that they are kinda DISGUSTING...... You be the judge!

Garrett's Baptism

Garrett's Baptism was performed on Valentines Day. My parents came from Texas to take part in the ceremony.
Genevieve was making silly faces for the camera while my mom was getting used to our camera. She took most of the photos of the Baptism.

Matt held Garrett through the ceremony, while I held Genevieve ;)

Garrett was the perfect baby. He loves taking a bath and never minds getting his hair washed so this was a piece of cake!

My Mother-in-law Mary Frances is Garrett's Godmother and my brother Chris is his Godfather. Unfortunately he was unable to be here for the ceremony so my father Louis Caporale stood in for him. Everything went perfectly.

We missed you Uncle Chris!!!!

Big Sicky

A week ago Garrett started getting congested and it progressively got worse. By Sunday we weren't sure if we should take him to the emergency room or if he'd be alright until we could take him to the pediatrician on Monday. Sunday afternoon we decided to go ahead and take him in just to be safe. He tested positive for RSV and the Doc was mainly concerned because of his age and because the oxygen saturation of his blood was below 95%. The doctor called Children's Hospital for a consult and they reassured her that they wouldn't admit him unless his level was below 90%. She sent us home and told us to take him into to see his pediatrician on Monday.

I took him in at 4pm Monday and his oxygen saturation level had dropped to 83%! An oral steroid and a quick breathing treatment didn't yield much improvement. Needless to say, we were off to Children's Hospital of Atlanta.

Because of the time of day (Rush Hour) she arranged for a transport to take him down there. Here he is being mounted to the gurney and wheeled out of the office building to the ambulance.

Once in the ER they attached an oxygen tube to his little face to help him out a little. he didn't know the difference, it was just another fun time to him!

Here he is getting one of his hour long breathing treatments and watching a little TV with Daddy!! This will be one for the old scrap book!!

We're home finally after two nights in the hospital and he is doing really good. Children's Hospital is really a great place to be if you're children get sick. They spare no expense when caring for children!!

Web-Celeb!

I have an embroidery machine that I've been playing with for a few months mostly making things for my kiddos. My friend and I bought the same machines so we meet and swap ideas on a weekly basis. Anyways, over the holidays she (Maci) organized a party in the amenities center of her community and hosted several parties at once (Southern living, Uppercase Living, Party Lite, Mary Kay, Sephora, and Pampered Chef). The turn out was good considering the time of year. Everybody made contacts and placed orders including us! We created some items and displayed them during the party as well hoping to get some interest from some of the homeowners. One of the sets I made included this poodle design (Bib, burpcloth and onsie), long story short, I submitted a picture of it to one of my favorite applique sites just to receive a free design download. Maci left me a message this afternoon informing me that not only did it make their gallery it was on their home page....Check it out! www.planetapplique.com

Trip to Baby Land General

My mom and I took Genevieve to "The" Baby Land General hospital in Cleveland, Georgia where Xavier Roberts grows Cabbage Patch Kids. This is their brand new hospital that they have just opened, can you believe this thing?I would have loved to have visited this place when I was a little girl. When I was little Cabbage Patch Kids we all the rave and you practically had to get on a waiting list to get your ands on one. I remember hearing stories of women fighting over them in Toys R Us at Christmas time!!
When you walk in there is a very palatial lobby with a huge curved staircase. You are first lead into the nursery where you can pick out any of the babies that you would like to adopt. This picture is of Genevieve standing in front of the Christmas tree that stands in the corner of the girls nursery.
Then you enter into the main hall where all of the cabbage patches are growing "I guess"? If they are completely exposed they are available to take and adopt. If just its head is showing then I guess the Cabbage Mother still has some pushing to do.. :0
Ok, get a load of this...... Periodically a nurse will make an announcement over the intercom to summon all of the children around this big tree in the center of the room. A nurse appears and starts taking Mother cabbages vitals etc.
She reaches in and pulls out a new born cabbage patch....That's how they are "born". As you can see on Genevieve's face in the next shot, she was a little shocked at the whole procedure. She just had a baby brother and didn't see any of these big trees or cabbages in that hospital?Regardless....She had a wonderful time, it's a very magical place for a little girl to visit. I'm so glad we took her and I'm happy to announce that she became the proud parent of a little blond haired, blue eyed girl named Sheila Arlene! (It's better than my first CPK "Archibald Haywood")
Funny Story: I worked with a girl who's sisters CPK was named "Girdie Nelly". She and her dad nicknamed it "Dirty Smelly" just to torment her sister! Ahhh, what are families for?
Merry Christmas Sugar.....
Love Mommy
